SYNOPSIS

After becoming homeless James has lived a hard life but often thinks of the people he has lived without. A change is needed in his life, and he recognises a paternal desire to be there for the daughter who has never truly known him. Aware of her upcoming birthday he embarks on a voyage across the city to surprise his daughter. Without money or support of any kind, the reasonably easy journey seems like an impossible mission. Along the way he questions if the journey is worth it as well as his own worth.

BEHIND THE SCENES

A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR

Everyone needs a little Grace.

Every parent, every family…

The main message we’re trying to tell with the film is that families should stay together.

We would hope that the audience feels joy and positive relief when James reaches his daughter, Grace. After he is reunited with his family the film’s central idea is carried home.

This film is a quasi-sequel to a film I made 10 years ago with the BBC called One Homeless Minute. When I directed OHM, I was very inexperienced and struggled to bring my vision to life. Years later, a question hit me like a hammer; “why don’t you remake the idea with the skills, contacts, and experience that you lack 1st time around? "

I've seen friends struggle with homelessness and volunteered at charities.  Homelessness is close to my heart.

The charity Crisis was created as a direct response to the film Cathy Come Home (1966) showing that a great film can make a real difference.

With homelessness currently skyrocketing now is the time to make this film.
